Summer 2023

What is summer to you? To me, it’s camping, gardening, travel, family time, farmers’ markets, trips to the mountains, and days at the beach. It’s coastal navy blue and vintage teal contrasting warm, golden yellow, and energetic coral.

Gardening is one of my favorite things to do and something I look forward to all year. It’s magic to me. By mid-summer, I get to taste the fruits of my labor. I love eating berries and cucumbers from the garden patch, which taste sweeter from the work that went into them. I sit back and admire the sunflowers all around.

Last summer, We camped in the Rocky Mountains before traveling to Yellowstone, where we stayed in a cabin with extended family and saw bears, wolves, and other animals native to the park.

Then, we drove across the country with my family and pets towing the camper to the East Coast where we grew up. We visited relatives, ate together, and swam at the same beaches I grew up going to in summers past. We spent time listening to the birds and finding a sense of home.

I remember summers in the 1980s and 90s when we would pile into the car with all our beach gear and spend long days on the sand. Now with a family of my own, I’ve been able to watch my child experience the ocean, the smell of sea life, and how soothing the waves can be in the warmth of summer.

Out of these experiences came this summer collection in four themes:

  • Summer fruits include blueberries, strawberries, and citrus, along with flowers from the farmer’s market in blush pink, olive green, teal blue, and golden tones. These fresh-from-the-garden prints are made to energize home decor projects—such as accent walls and wallpapered drawers—and bring a more timeless retro look to apparel, accessories, and market totes.

  • Retro summer florals designs expand on my 70s Revival Collection with vintage florals and fluid geometric prints. The cool blues and purples complement warm amber tones and[latte cream]—just right for swimsuits, beach blankets, and other sunny accessories.

  • Holiday in the mountains is about waking up at a cabin or campsite. The featured print centers around the wildlife of both Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone National Park, with bears, mountain goats, bison, eagles, and wolves. Think fresh mountain air, evergreen trees, warm flannel, and a golden sunrise.[I can picture these prints on example, example, and example.]

  • Holiday by the coast uses light, airy pastel tones to capture laid-back hours at the beach and a cooling ocean breeze. Summer days stretch out with sailboats, surfboards, sunglasses, iced coffee, summer reading, palm trees, and volleyball, among fringed beach blankets and umbrellas. These prints bring a mellow vibe to beach bags and towels and add a soft, beach-cottage look to throw pillows and home decor. I’m looking forward to another summer of sun!
